Do you know a city (at least 20k population) that needs a nail salon?

I am a mother of one with one on its way. With my family's future in mind, I would like to start a nail salon business, then reinvest into other areas. I am looking into opening in a city that doesn't have much nails in comparison to its population. Any idea of cities and/or states (especially around Texas but any place is fine)?Do you know a city (at least 20k population) that needs a nail salon?
Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Where can I find an inexpensive salon that does good cut n color?

I have long, relaxed coarse hair. And I am looking for a salon to do my color and give me some long layers. I need a salon that can work with my hair type and turn out good results. I would prefer outside of manhattan, since the prices are much more than i can afford. And I am not interested in a dominican doobie shop. thanksWhere can I find an inexpensive salon that does good cut n color?
I do not know, but if no one else answers, I will tell you this, look it up in a phone book.

  • Are cheap salons great for..?

are Cheap Salons great for BROW WAXING? one of my friend's sis got her's done where I'm gonna go tommorow and they nearly waxed her whole eyebrow off!?Are cheap salons great for..?
No. NONONO! For eyebrows, people should always go to a GOOD salon, especially one with a trusted hairstylist who can recommend a good waxer. Cheap salons are good for basic nails and trims, but that's about it.

I hardly ever recommend going with something more expensive, since I'm a dirt broke college kid, but this is one thing I am dead certain on...trust me, many bad experiences. Are cheap salons great for..?
The same thing can happy at a pricey salon. All depends on the person doing the work.
Then it wouldn't make sense to go.
Didn't you just answer your own question???? Please read what you wrote and really read the last part!! NOOOOOO don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheap salons are to be used only as a last resort!! (or if you don't care what you look like when they are done with you)

    and its worth it too

    it looks really good

( =How much would it cost to get a body wave at a hair salon?
my salon would do one for 74.50 adult rate student rate is 59.00 ,so you could fall into one of these catagories ...... and they say you'll absolutely love it !!!! good luck

    Fiesta Hair Salons..?

Has any girls been to this salon? if so, are they good at doing hair the way you want them to?Fiesta Hair Salons..?
It is a chain and turn over can be frequent. They have all passed the state so they should be qualified. Like everything though some are better than others. If you find a hairdresser you like at one of them you are allowed to ask for her though you may have to wait otherwise you get who is available at the time.Fiesta Hair Salons..?
they go through a lot of workers

    because it is a chain

so if you go and find someone you really like get their number so when you go back and they are not there you can contact them to find out where they are now working

    good luck

    answer my question

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>

Will I look stupid if I take a photo of how I want my hair to be styled like into the salon?

I already know what I want my hair to be like and I have a decent picture printed off, will the stylist be able to get it right from the photo or will I look like a complete idiot? I'm going to Toni %26amp; Guy btw xxxxWill I look stupid if I take a photo of how I want my hair to be styled like into the salon?
tons of people do that! :]

*Will I look stupid if I take a photo of how I want my hair to be styled like into the salon?
Toni %26amp; Guy is a great salon, they should be able to replicate any photo you bring in. Just understand that the person in the photo might not look anything like you as far as face shape, skin color, etc, and that will affect whether or not YOU perceive the end result to look right.

But as long as you take that into consideration, they should be able to get the hair itself pretty darn close.
I think a little homework and asking around doesn't hurt and it's certainly not embarrasing. After all, you are paying for this style, so ultimately, you want the cut that's tailored to suit your face/shape/features.

If it's a shorter cut, then take it step by step. Ask the salon if they can ask around other colleagues to fins out if they have had any experience. You may not be the first and the only one and there may have been somebody out there who may have had a similar style.

The key thing is to be postive and be sure it's the style you want.

    All the best

    Numark :-)
It is a brilliant idea, the hairdresser needs as much input as possible and will be able to tell you whether the style will suit you, or may even suggest something else. Take the pictures with you when you make the appointment and ask if the style would be possible.
Usually the most experienced stylist can look at a picture and tell exactly how you want your hair cut. If you feel like you should take the picture, then feel free to take it. It will only help the person to get it right!

    Hope that helps
No, they will love it if you bring in a photo, also its a great salon so if the person in the picture has a different facial structure to yourself they will be able to suggest how the hair style may be tweaked be suit yourself better.
Noooo. Most salons prefer to have an example of what you would like so they have ideas. It makes the process easier and faster. The salon worker has their work cut out for them and you have a better chance of getting the style you want to achieve.
    no no no

i think its better if you take a picture in cause then I suppose the person will know what it looks like

    I usually do it

or if i see one I like in a magazine I take it and show it

so ii dont think you will look stupid at all

    =D
well first of all im from a small town so i dont know what toni%26amp;guy is but i bring in pictures to my hair stylist all the time. and they actually say they like when people bring in pictures that way they know exactly what you want.
no, alot of people do it, i have a picture of how i want my hair next time i get it cut and im gonna show it to the hairdresser.
no!!! its a brilliant idea, i wanted a style change and my hairdresser didnt understand what i wnated an i ended up with a turbo-square frige and 4 inches off !

Take a photo they'll have more to work with x
No, i always take pictures when im getting a new hair style, its the best thing to do. That way you cant go wrong with explaining it and they can actualy SEE how you want it.
no not all, i do that all the time and my hairdresser is always glad because it gives her a much better idea of what i'm giong for!
nope, you are the customer, you know what you want, don't be shy about it, they have people taking pics in all the time!
No, i always bring a picture of what i want...alot of people do.

Its kind of like bringing a picture of the tattoo you want to a tattoo parlor.
nah i've done it twice before and it's fine they quite like it because they know exactly what you want then rather than a rough idea and a chance you won't like it :)
no, loads of people do it or take photos from magazines etc. I find it really hard to describe what i want. It's the best way to get it right. Good luck
I'm sure it will be no problem. I do this all the time when I am getting my hair cut because I want the hair stylist to cut my hair that way.
They prefer pictures because it shows what you really want.
No you would not. A lot of people do this. I see it all the time.
no that's a good idea lotz of people take pics, it will show the stylist exactly what you want
Nope. I would be much easier from the stylist to know exactly what their doing.
no, it would give the stylist a break from guessing what you want. do it!
    its alctually a great idea!
    umm no

plenty of people do that all the time
yeah she will if there good

i took a photo of someone that had the hairstyle i wanted

    and the got it right
DOOOO IT IF YOU LOVE YOUR HAIR
    nope! you will be fine
nah i take pictures in and they do it just fine

    Are tanning salons the best?

if u go to the tanning salon a couple of times ( maybe once every couple months ) do u turn orange? Are tanning salons the best?
No but you will get wrinkles, premature age spots and possibly skin cancer. Are tanning salons the best?
im not sure about the turnin orange part i think if u go way too often then yeah its possible but i think its best to get a natural tan cuz it looks way better and besides if u get a tan from a tanning salon ur just wasting money wen u could go to the beach or the park or sumthing
    No.

And they're not healthy for your skin either.

Also the color depends on what kind of skin tone you have.

If I were you the safests way to tan is to go to a salon that spray tans.
You don't turn orange you just get more tan. But tanning is not so great for your skin, I would only go once a year if I was you. But I'm not so do what you want.

    -kadie
The best thing to do is just get a spray tan instead of lying down in a solarium.U can get them done professionally or your self start of lightly then work your tan up but make sure it doesn't look fake or unnatural
Never go to a tanning salon!!!! Be glad with your body color. I'm really white but i'd rather be white than have skin cancer.
I have a lot of friends who go tanning on a regular basis and after a while it does put a wear on your skin, ya know and if you can tan naturally I don't see why you would want to spend the money on it, like most people I know tan because they say they'll burn in the sun so they have to build up a 'base tan'??? I dunno all I'm saying is that if you can do without it, do without it.
No way then you would see a lot of orange people running around...hahaha
No, you won't turn orange like those chemicals you put on your skin to help you look like you've tanned. Here are some thoughts I have about tanning whether in tanning booths or outside tanning in the sun. It doesn't matter which method you use for tanning as long as you do it in moderation. Many people use the tanning booth during times of the year when the weather is colder outside. With the tanning booth you can look nice and tanned year round. It's very easy to tan too much so one has to be careful. Too much tanning will make your skin wrinkle prematurely in life. Everybody is saying tanning is not good for you and causes cancer but this fact is overstated. During the 60's and 70's when tanning was so popular people stayed out in the sun too long not knowing the damages of over exposure. Studies indicated UV rays were causing our bodies harm so now everyone wants to say stay out of the sun and wear sun blockers. In recent years the UV rays have become stronger so more caution needs to be observed. While true, moderate tanning can do the body good and elevate ones mood. The key is to wear some sun block and limit your exposure to the sun especially during the strongest time of the day when UV rays are at their strongest. With the tanning booth you can control conditions no matter the time of the day.
I would never go to one, they're dangerous/unhealthy.

I don't know if you turn orange or not, but tanning salons aren't good for you. But I can't prove that, so I have to say that You look good, you don't need any type of enhancement to 'look better'. You are fine, and God created you exactly how he wants you to look
Not orange. But it does increase your chances of getting skin cancer. And when you are 40 you will look 50. Too bad, because I love to tan. But I don't do it.
Tanning beds greatly increase your risk of skin cancer. Use sunless tanning lotions or sprays instead.
    No. No.
noo. but i wouldn't recommend getting a spray tan if you want to stay completely natural.. If you're going away, get a base UV Free tan. it worked for me!
DON'T GO!! In college I went on a month long tanning binge. Now I have skin cancer.

Some people go all the time and nothing ever happens (besides having fake looking skin and wrinkles when they get older)

But everyone is different and it's not worth the risk.
    no.

i went to the nail salon today..i felt really dumb because i saw the price paper you noe..and i didn't know wat anything meant..fill in, full set etc...HELP!Nail salons?? Help..i feel dumb?
For a full set, there is silk, gel, acrylic. I get the gel. Basically they put a coating over your nail to make it stronger and prettier. The pink and white is where there is a light pink gel put over the nail, and then the tips are white gel. Its basically like a french manicure. Depending on the salon, they have fake nail tips of different colors or designs to put on the tips if you like. Or you can get a clear gel over your nail, and then you can paint it whatever color. You'll have to get this done every couple a weeks since your nails will grow, so its an expensive habit to get into. But its good if you have weak nails. If you decide you don't want them anymore, it will hurt a little to take them off!

    Tanning Salons?

Where are some good tanning salons in Ottawa?

Or, if you don't know, then how much should I expect to pay? And how many sessions will it take for me to get a noticeable tan? I'm pretty pale right now.Tanning Salons?
i live in michigan.. so i'm not sure the locations for you.. but i worked in a tanning salon for a long time and i have taken the smart tan certification..

try to find a salon with VHR equiptment, it gives you a longer, deeper, quicker tan and it's also a lot better for your skin.. reduces aging as well and you don't have to go tanning as much after you get your base tan... also make sure you use a tanning lotion before you tan every time, when you don't, your skin blocks out about 45% of the tan anyways... and make sure you don't take a shower for 3 hours after you tan because it takes at least 3 hours to fully develope... tanning salons with vhr equiptment do tend to be a lil more expensive but it is very much worth it and you're not going tanning as much as you do in regular beds so in the long run, the price evens out... i know i didn't answer the question you had, but i thought this info may help... also, go to yahoo, com and in the search section type in 'tanning salons vhr ottowah' and something should come upTanning Salons?
Ok VHR is the best in tanning $60-70 a month (Canadian exchange aprox $75 a month. other types you have to visit more often and are aproximatey $55 Canadian rate.

WAIT DONT QUIT READING THERE-MS BEAUTY PRINCESS, in the Orient your lack of tan would make you a natural beauty, even paler would make you a Natural Beauty in some countries.

the fact that the more blonde you are normally the more delacate your skin is (also red heads and frecklers have delacate lighter skin). The lighter your skin the harder it is to tan=light does not attract rays as naturally as the darker skin does.

. Believe it or not a person that is more attracted to your for a deap tan is shallow, not considering the future.

So in fact to the right guy, tanning does not neccesarily make you more beautiful. When we compare ourself to the hollywood tan we can feel inadaquate. There are health aids to natural tanning wipe on from the health store, usually with carot caortine, also eating carrots and or carotine impigments ones skin to be naturally darker. I am a mix with Italian and Jewish that makes my skin naturally olive toned though lol I am born platnum blonde yet not sensitive to the sun because i am not naturally pale.

The fact that one is told to use sun protection even in a tanning bed says alot.

It takes 10 years approximately for skin canser to develop, and those that worship the sun or tanning beds find this out the hard way.

what helped me to put first things first even in the tanning department was to learn that I am loved by the most important person as I am, it gave me confidence 'as is'.

How i came know my best friend Jesus the Messiah = is I read his words spoken/he say from heaven ';I love you, and ask you to repent of sin quickly. Behold I stand at your heart's door and knock, if you let me in I will become your friend and fellowship with you and you with me.'; Revelation 3:19%26amp;20

    So I prayed, ';Help me please, forgive my sins, come into my heart and be my friend, amen.';

and life is a joy now with the Messiah my savior and best friend.

David in Jesus Christ BE PRINCESS happy :) ^^ amazing grace/free love happy.

If your planning on hanging out at the beach, without a tanning bed first, it would be good to have a girl friend that is light as you are. If you have a boy friend it doesnt matter how tan he is, you will look great together as is.

i don't live there, but it costs about forty dollars a month in american money. it will take you about a week to see any change if you start slow.
um i can tell you this much if your really pale and you dont tan well from natural sun...like you just kinda turn red and not brown your not gonna tan from a tanning bed..

More than likely not. Try going to a Beauty College because the people there are young and hip to what's what these days. Trust me on this one. And bring in a bunch of pictures to show how you want it to look.If I take a pic of scene hair I want to the salon will they do it just like it?
What ever you do dont get scene hair. You will regret it with such a firey passion, I have my hair scene right now and im missing my long hair so much, My hairs really damaged already and I've only been teasing it for about two months, trust me scene hair is a mistake, it looks good once you learn how to tease it, but after you tease it too much, it's fried and horrid looking, take my advice dear. Get a shaggy layered look and forget the combs and product.

How old do you have to be to work at a tanning salon?

    yeah,

i know its probably different for every salon.

but in general how old do you have to be?

and what benifits do you have for working there, as far as tanning and lotions go.How old do you have to be to work at a tanning salon?
Oh I have worked at about 5 or so tanning salons.

GREAT job, I miss it so much I am lookng to get back into it.

The first person is right, you just have to be old enough to have a WORK PERMIT. Which is 15/16. Depending where you live. As far as tanning there, you do have to be 16 with parental consent, or 18 to legally tan on your own =)

Discounts will vary by store of course, but most do FREE TANNING, and lotions --- since u have to be up on things %26amp; have sample, you usually have a spot in the store where you have all your lotions for samples for customers %26amp; the employees use them for free when they tan! =) ITS A GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck to you!!!!!!!!!How old do you have to be to work at a tanning salon?
18, because that is legal age to tan!
Generally, unless you obtain a work permit you have to be at least 16 to work anywhere. As far as discounts go probably about a 20-30% discount on lotions and tanning membership. Hope you get the job!
Do you want to be covered in wrinkles by time your 25?... Thats what happens to girls that tan. I'm 20, and my friends growing up all tanned constantly... now, at 25 years old.. they already have wrinkles!... It's horrible for your skin... get a better job.. a cleaner one.. Do you really wanna be wiping the @ss sweat from some big girl off of a tanning bed?.... just think about that one for a minute.

I go to a tanning salon, but my stomach and legs tan way faster than my face and arms.?

I switch on %26amp; off with a lotion, and I know I could go into a booth, but are there any other things I could do to tan evenly?I go to a tanning salon, but my stomach and legs tan way faster than my face and arms.?
it's all about the melanin in your skin and the concentration.. (ie my stomach, face, and arms get really dark where as my legs lag behind..) HOWEVER, try tanning sans make up with a lot of moisturizer and try not to shower for at least 12 hours after your session.. the longer you leave it the darker you get.. secondly, try using like a jergens darkening lotion when you go to sleep at night on your problem spots.. you'll gradually gain color.. DONT use regular body soap on your face because it deters the tan with a waxy build up.. use facial cleanser..

There is a salon that is about to open right across the street from mine. That salon prices are cheaper?

The prices for haircuts and all are much cheaper then mine. any suggestions at all? There is a salon that is about to open right across the street from mine. That salon prices are cheaper?
Has your salon been open for awhile? Do you give really good quality haircuts? Do you have a lot of very loyal customers?

I don't know. On one hand I wouldn't be scared. Because if my business gave really good haircuts but still had higher prices...it's fine. That boutique might give worse quality haircuts.

You could be the Gene Juarez salon and they could be...supercuts. No competition there. Supercuts gave a bunch of my friends really bad haircuts, so I'd rather pay $100 for a quality haircut then $10 for a hackjob.

Notice: Not meaning to offend Supercuts in any way. Just simply saying based on the haircuts my friends got there. Sorry. There is a salon that is about to open right across the street from mine. That salon prices are cheaper?
We have had that situation in my town. The original hairdressers had faithful clients that did not stray. The few that did were back soon enough. The new place is barely hanging on. I feel once their lease is up they will be gone.

Most salons charge te same price for these services. The salon i work in does i know for a fact that they charge per hour and they charge the same amount. However when i am outside of the shop since im putting together a portfolio i will do it for a flat rate of 250 if you get your own hair, and 350 if i have to get it. So if you are lloking for less expensive, you might want to try to find a freshly graduated hairdresser. If not then you will most definitely be paying between 500 to 1500 dollars depending largely on where you live.

My salon uses retail products... But some use their own. I think more use retail though.Hair salons?
there are professional products from suppliers that also supply retail products. Hairsalons also color technitions or trained staff who will mix color depending on condition and color of hair.

Hair salons ... in Paris France!?

I'm traveling to Europe and since I'm a female with a thick head of hair I usually need to get it professionally blown out. My hair is midback and quite curly and thick. I just wanted to know if it is expensive to do a regular blow out?Hair salons ... in Paris France!?
Hello, I understand completely. I have thick naturally curly hair and live in Paris. I go once a week.

Your best bet is the Franck Provost salons. They are a chain and in every district in Paris, so you can't miss them. The staff are well trained and used to our kind of hair. Most Parisian women have thick hair.

The term in French for a blow dry is ';Brushing';. It costs 16 Euro for short hair and 25 for long hair. They wash, massage your head and blow dry. If you want conditioner they add 8 euro.

It is hard to find it less expensive than that. I tired a few salons less expensive and my hair looked like the end of a broom stick.

Pay the extra and get conditioner. It is humid in Paris and this keeps your hair weighted down and it lasts longer. The term for conditioner in France is ';masque';.

As I do not know where you are staying, I list a few of their salons here.

for a wash and a blow dry (called shampooing-brushing) expect 15 to 20 euros.

The prices are on display on the front door (like restaurants menus) so you can check before entering. The cheapest places (note that the quality of service is far from bad) can be found in gallerias or ';galleries marchandes'; next to the grocery store.

    JCPenny Salons has the CHI?

I saw it there once but i need to know can i just walk in there and say can i have the CHI straightener without having an appointment at the SalonJCPenny Salons has the CHI?
It's never rude to walk into a salon and buy a product or products. Not only do most hairdressers work for commission for their services but they also make a commission on the products they sell. You'll make their day!! Sell you something and not do any work for it!!!!JCPenny Salons has the CHI?
j c penney takes walk-ins. try to go at a time you don't think they will be busy.
They do have them at JcPenny salons but it would be rude to go there and ask for one without an appointment. I have a CHI and I love it. I got one brand new on EBay 10 times cheaper then the stores sell it!!!!!!!
i think u can ..... if ur too shy go to a beauty store and get it there =0)
The products at the JCPenney salon can be bought without a hair appointment. Just pick it up and walk to the salon counter. I do this all the time.

    Hair salons?

Do salon's use their own hair color solutions or do they use retail products? (Revoln, Loreal etc)Hair salons?
My salon uses retail products... But some use their own. I think more use retail though.Hair salons?
there are professional products from suppliers that also supply retail products. Hairsalons also color technitions or trained staff who will mix color depending on condition and color of hair.
They do not use Revlon or anything sold in stores. Some use Redken, Matrix, Chi, Wella... there are many others... but they are professional quality. Said to be Much better for your hair than over the counter brands.

How much does it cost to dye your hair at a salon?

also, my hair is a dark brown, would I have to strip it if I wanted to dye it a dark red?How much does it cost to dye your hair at a salon?
um for me its like 75 + but i usually get two colors at least but now i get ti done buy my aunts friend it only costs me 20-30 bucks

no u should have to maybe bleach it once to get it lighter but i doubt it How much does it cost to dye your hair at a salon?
Your hair may need to be bleached first to take the color. My daughter's hair is very dark brown, so color doesn't work for her and I wont' allow her to bleach it due to the damage it can cause. (She has long, beautiful hair) We found a kit just for dark hair by Loreal at Walmart. She now has 'fushia flash' highlights in her hair; it's really cute and didn't require any bleaching! I can't remember the exact name of the kit, but you may want to try this before going through the salon process. Good luck!!
I think the only reason you would have to have it stripped is if you are going to dye it blonde . I have dark brown hair myself and I had it stripped to dye it a dark blonde it costed me right under 100$ GOOD LUCK :)
Depends on the length of your hair normally 70 - 80 dollars. And no you don't strip your hair to make it a dark red.
Yes...you'd have to lighten it. Depending on what you're going to get...you should expect to pay at least $80 +.
    Depends where you go.

Some places would be 拢40 other Over 拢100.
let me know what your getting dyed and where and i can tell you !!!
where my mom goes it could coost as much as $400
well i go to hair cuttery and its only $3 per foill hope i helped
In monetary terms, it's not that expensive. However, the cost to your soul is immeasurable and devastating. Dyed hair is the work of the devil - don't fall prey to his traps.

How do you get a manicure or a pedicure at a salon? What is it like?

I don't think I quite get your question but from what I understood, you just ask for a manicure/pedicure. They'll ask you what color you want, or if you want french manicure/pedicure. If the salon is a good one then you will leave satisfied.

Will I turn orange if I go to a mysic tanning salon?

I have never had a spray tan done. I am a little scared to do it. Normally by this time of year I would be very tan from sun bathing and tanning beds but I am pregnant this summer and pastey white. I am scared to go and get a spray tan because most of the over the counter tan in a can or bottle smell bad and get all streaky. Sometimes I will even look orange. I need a tan because my baby shower is at the end of the month and I will be wearing a black knee length dress. Since it is showing some skin I dont want to look like a ghost but then I dont want to look all orange too. I really do want a nice tan and my friend told me to go and get a spray tan one day and go again the next to get a nice even golden tan. Is that too much or will that do the trick? Will I turn orange if I go to a mysic tanning salon?
You won't turn orange. Mystic tan looks great. A friend of mine got it done and I thought she had just got back from Jamaica. It looks really natural. You will love it!Will I turn orange if I go to a mysic tanning salon?
It all depends on what shade you pick and how long they are spraying you.
it depends which shade you pick and how much you get sprayed
    yes u'll turn orange
mystic tans are usually pretty even and not too orangey.. but if you're pregnant i dontknow if thats a good idea..

    but i dont know.

    mystic is good tho

Hair colored at salon today, looks the same as when I walked in the door, try again tomorrow?

Today I got my hair colored what was supposed to be a little darker, but it looks the same if not lighter as when I walked in the door the first time. I am disappointed in the color for the price I had to pay.. because it looks the same! I'm calling the salon tomorrow, can it be re-done? They dyed it using no heat, I just sat there with the foil, will it ruin my hair to get it redone?Hair colored at salon today, looks the same as when I walked in the door, try again tomorrow?
It's still harmful, even if they didn't use heat.

    It's still chemicals.

Go back and ask the stylist.Hair colored at salon today, looks the same as when I walked in the door, try again tomorrow?
Please don't do it again tomorrow. Your hair will fall out! No kidding. You can use chemicals on your hair every two (2) weeks w/o the risk of too much damage or it falling out. I'd definitely call tomorrow and tell them that you want them to fix it in two weeks for free because it didn't take.
you should wait at least a month or 2 before dying it again. all of those chemicals can damage the hair.

How do i remove artificial nails w/out going back to salon.?

Get nail polish removerHow do i remove artificial nails w/out going back to salon.?
You more then likely have Gel nails which has to be filed off. Acrylic can be soaked off w/ acetone or filed down.

Use a very course nail file so it goes faster but when you get closer to the natural nail, switch to a more fine file. Avoid the urge to break them off as this will take quite a few layers off of your natural nail and make them extremely thin (and ugly), Plus it can really hurt because your pulling up on the nail bed which is full of nerves and blood vesles . BE VERY CAREFUL not to file too far down as this can also remove layers of your natural nail. Thin nails can be painful - ESPECIALLY if you go back to get the nails back on....the UV light will burn like CrAzY. PLUS it takes months for the nail to grow out!

Best bet is to file CARFULLY - a tedious task. Be careful about friction too......it can get hot.

Acrylic can be soaked off w/ acetone - pure acetone is sold at professional outlets - in this case you will also need a special dish to soak them in too. Some nail polishes do have Acetone in them but not enough to do much. Mostly if will just make the top layer soft but won't penetrate through the entire fake nail.

Oh - and go very very slow if you use a powered file VERY careful. You can buy them at walmart and such but I'd say stick with the nail file. Much safer for your first time on trying this

It not that great of idea to let them grow out because a) then usually won't last %26amp; stay in good condition and B) you risk getting stuff undernieth and the nail can get fungus etc

Good luck - and after you get them off, treat yourself to a good manicure w/ some sort of polish for your nails

oh - and if you don't know which you have - gel would have been a ';gel'; when applied and it's shiny; Acrylic she would have dipped her brush into a liquid first then a powder to make a paste and this type of nail takes some buffing to get it shiny. Acrylics not too popular anymore. too much dust from all the filing tooHow do i remove artificial nails w/out going back to salon.?
Buy some acetone ....its a polish remover usually sold right next to regular polish remover. You basically have to allow your nails to soak in the liquid for ten minutes or more to remove them ...Good Luck.
all you have to do, is bite on them. like the sides of the nail. just keep doing it, and they will eventually fall off. thats what i did and mine came off. And they didnt ruin my nails underneath.
    Acetone

You can buy straight acetone or just buy nail polish remover with acetone and soak them for a long time. My would always come off when I did the dishes, so hot soapy water might help also.
I used to clip them of with nail clippers then pick them off with eye brow plucker s. Kinda hurts, but its faster than soaking lol
soak them in water or nail polish remover. do NOT force them off-ur nail underneath might peel with it or it'll leave a bad look to ur nail.
once i just ripped them off during school...it killled. soaking them in nail polish remover for 10 minutes helps soften it and it wont hurt as much to pull em off...
Well i always though finger nail polish remover or 100% Acetone would do it?
either soak them in nail polish remover or

in warm soapy water every day until they get loose!!
Cut them so that they are short then soak in nail polish remover.
soak them in nail polish remover for a while

    them wipe them off

    dont peel or pull
Just out under hot water and peel
at some stores like walmart they have nail removal stuff.
let your actual nails grow out

  • Funky, gothic, alterative, punk, Rock, Indie, Raver, Emo hair? I luv it! Links, salons, wigs? Stenciled hair?

I've been recently been looking into this because I love doing all my friends hair crazy and was thinking about cosmetology school. I've also been making patterned extensions for myself and was thinking maybe I'll take it to the next level and start making them and selling them. I love crazy hair but the thing for me has always been too much synthetic, and not unique, it all looks the same just different colors. I was thinking of making some kind of arty wigs, but I want to look at more hairstyles and salons to see more about this.

For patterned/stenciled hair check out www.clearfoil.com and click on the pictures. It will show you what I mean by patterns. I was thinking of doing this on a much larger with a lot more complicated and brighter patterns.

Here are some of my ideas:

    ok...

Should I go into a different race owned hair salon?

ok, don't get me confuse. I am black and i need a perm. There's this salon by my place owned by an asian lady. It would be way more convenient n cheap 4 me to go there but i am scared. I have only been to black salon and i don't know how it would turn out. I've been trying to check out people that came out but i haven't seen any black girl yet:D

Should i go???Should I go into a different race owned hair salon?
If they have their cosmetologist liscence then they would need to know how to do a Perm.

Go in %26amp; ask some questions...see fi they know what they are doing. Or ask what they specialize in.Should I go into a different race owned hair salon?
Just go in and ask her if they can do a perm with your hair.
Call them first and ask them if they have experience with Black women's hair. If not, don't go. If they have, give it a try! Good luck.
I always go to asian hair salons, partly because of the cheaper pricing and because I'm asian. But I've seen plenty non-asians, Caucasians, Mexicans, African Americans, alike go in there and come out with a great hair stles. It really depends on the salon, try checking out their hairstylists' skills, by seeing how the cut the hair, techniques they use, etc.!

Its best to have a picture of what you want you hair to turn out like, because sometimes its hard to convey what you really want to them!
To me a perm is a perm. As long as this lady is a trained professional it shouldn't matter whether she is black, yellow, brown or green! Go to her you will be fine.
Bad idea! Listen. Call the salon and ask them to tell you step by step how they apply relaxer. If it sounds right, then you should be fine. DON'T call and ask them if they are familiar with black hair because they'll say yes just to get a customer (and they may be lying). Even if they do have their license and have been trained, that training means nothing if they rarely use it...and you already said you haven't seen blacks coming out of that salon. That happened to me at a predominantly white JC penny salon. It was a mess....obvious the guy didn't know what he was doing. My answer is no, don't go to a different race salon.
Just ask the stylist if they're familiar with your kind of hair. As much as I like to assume that all hair stylists are trained to work with all hair types and that means they can, the truth is that hairstylists that don't often do ethnic hair usually aren't very good at it. I go to a hair salon in the mall, and when I asked the woman if she does ethnic hair (I'm black, my hair is relaxed and it grows in small waves) she actually said no, and luckily someone who worked their was.

However, if your gut tells you the stylists don't know how to do it, then I wouldn't risk my hair. Just find a salon that seems to specialize in it and let them handle the stuff that is a little difficult and requires experience. The place you usually visit can still do your styling if you prefer. A perm need to be done correctly, it's very important.
    Absolutly! you have that right!

If I had a Salon, you would be more

than welcome to come in mine!
I work in the entertainment industry where talented hair stylists can do every kind of hair well, regardless of race. I've seen white men do black hair better than black women. Bottom line, you want the best hair stylist you can afford.

Forget about convenient. Forget about cheap. You're talking about the hair on your head -- the only head that you have. When you walk into a room, your hair is one of the first things people will notice about you. It's worth the extra money to go to a great high end hair stylist. Trust me, I'm a man, we appreciate these things (more than most of us would ever admit to).

Take your time, ask around in your town, stop women in the mall with great hairstyles similar to the look you want and ask them who does their hair. Find out who the best stylist in your town is (get proof) and beg, borrow, and/or steal to get an appointment. That stylist might be a black woman, might be an Asian man. Who knows. Greatness has no color.
Well some Black people have Asian hair type. You should go to a Dominican hair salon. They are good at doing Black people's hair. Most Latin people have from nappy and very fine hair. So they have a lot of experience in making all hair types look good. Just try a place out, they will get your hair looking nice. :)
well, this is a hard 1 because hair takes a while 2 grow back. Im kinda split on this 1. Sometimes its best 2 stick 2 what u kno works 4 u, u kno black people can perm hair, u dont really kno how this lady will do it. And there is a lot of licensed stylist that still manage 2 make u bald. However, i recently went 2 buy some weave from the beauty supply and the asian lady there told me she knew how 2 sew the hair in. It was way cheaper than what other places told me so i said yea. I was very worried because I couldnt imagine how she was going 2 pull this 1 off, but 2 my suprise and relief, she actually did a pretty good job, she just didnt kno how 2 flatiron it. Sometimes, its just the luck of the draw, so...good luck!
hahaha. idk. probably not. does the place look really janky? last time i went to a place like that, with a couple asian ppl. the dude's wife cut my hair. GOD i was so pissed when i came out. she cut the side of my head so freaking high. and she's all ';you want gel??'; and pulled out this old tub of gel, with hair stuck to it, put a bunch in her hands, and put it in my hair and slicked it back, like some mafia guy. i was like WTF are you doing!! never go to those places. they'll **** you up. go to Fantastic Sams or a real salon.
I don't see why you couldn't. BUT the downside of going to a racially different salon, is that the hair dresser isn't used to the type of hair. Asian hair dressers are used to asian textured hair, Caucasian stylists are used to Caucasian textured hair, and etc. If you know what I mean. ..
Go in and just ask if others like you have been there girl! Dont be shy! You don't want messed up hair! And we all need to save a little money....just ask and keep yourself beautiful! Trust me you wont be the only one who has asked...

    good luck!

What do you look for when chosing a full-service hair salon?

1st and foremost a stylist that maintains a high regular clientele. In chosing a new hairdresser, thats one thing to consider, as repeat business usually lets you know they have skills. 2- The ability to work with your hair type. 3- Start with something simple first, see how that goes, then try something more complexed, if she dont do the simple right, at least shes done no real harm. 4-Cleanliness of salon and stylist practices.5-Wait times, I hate to have an appointment at 1oclock, and be just getting in the chair at 1:30.6-Look at her/his hair. Im a stickler about this one, its a pet peeve I guess, but if the stylists hair looks a mess, its safe to assume yours will too. Stylists appearence says alot about their vision, creativeness, and ability to find a style right for you. What do you look for when chosing a full-service hair salon?

  • Would you say BA salon management is a good degree?

I mean do you think its better than studying history - because its more vocational ..? What would you say.Would you say BA salon management is a good degree?
If you plan on managing a salon, then yes. But seriously, you will learn management skills that are applicable to a number of different industries, but you will likely have to do your hard time in a salon first if you wish to aspire to greater things, if that is where you see your path going.

I would also say that you would need to have spent time working from the bottom up in a salon as well before being taken seriously as a salon manager. Don't expect to have no work experience and jump into managing a place where you have no idea of the actual goings on which the day-to-day staff face.

As for history, it depends on what you intend to do with such a degree. I had a friend who did a history degree, and he claims that what you do your dissertation in will mostly guide you towards success from there. For instance, he did his in ';The History of the British Labour Party';, and he is now working in the civil service.

In terms of a history dissertation you can pretty much choose ';The History of....'; in relation to just about anything, which could then be transferred as knowledge of a particular industry or societal structure.

When was the last time you had your hair washed at the salon?

What do they say to indicate that they will be washing your hair?DO YOU LIKE HAVING YOUR HAIR WASHED AT THE HAIR SALON?
I always ask to get my hair washed, they turn on the massage chair and give you a head massage, its great. I haven't been for a while, probably a few months now. Just ask if they will be washing your hair or not when you book or arrive.DO YOU LIKE HAVING YOUR HAIR WASHED AT THE HAIR SALON?
I love having my hair washed at the salon simply because, i don't have to do it. So that kind of answers the next question, i always ask for shampoo because my hair is thick and hard to cut unless its wet. I have never styled it at a salon for a special occasion. The last time i got it washed at salon was two weeks ago because i got a hair cut. And to indicate that they'll be washing your hair they'll say, go sit in that chair, we are going to wash your hair haha.

if you have time could you answer mine?

Should guys go to tanning salons?

tan lines are not cool on men or women.Should guys go to tanning salons?
It's a little metro, but there isn't anything wrong with it. Just don't tell any other dudes you went, and try not to let anyone see you come or go.Should guys go to tanning salons?
Definitely not. Tanning beds are not only bad for your skin, it is a SERIOUS violation of the Man Law. Guys should get their tans mowing the yard or playing a sport... not laying around under big light wearing speedos. There is a reason you only see women and feminine guys coming out of those places.
No one should go to tanning salons.
go to the beach....maybe in alaska...the whole global warming thing...might work out for you

Do guys ordinaraly go to salons.?

or would that look gay? cause someone said i should go to one to get something doen to my hair. but iv never been to one and want to know if its normal for a guy to do that?Do guys ordinaraly go to salons.?
yea i have alot of normal everyday guys that see me at a salon it is not gay that is just a stero type and dont worry about it, it may be a better situation than going to a barber because by the looks of your avatar you have longer hair barbers are better for short fades on guysDo guys ordinaraly go to salons.?
';Salons'; routinely cut men's hair -- do you think you have to go to a barbershop because you're a guy? -- and I've been going to one salon or another for 25 years.
Yes...Guys go to salons and don't have to be gay...They just want to look their best...
well ike do get it it nice and pretty or just for like a trim or sumething like that? unless your metro
personally, i give myself trims. i'm into the ';uneven snipping'; look. in other words i don't care much how i look. but it's wonderful if you do. nothing wrong or gay about it.

after all, men also get manicures...
half of my clients are men and of them half professional men (gay and straight) and the other college students (gay and straight).

i would also have to say half of my clients are gay (male and female) and the other half straight (married, looking, and horndogs)
    no
not unless they are gay or a kid who has no choice but to go in with his mom
    Gay. Definately gay.
theres nothing wrong with being well groomed thats just desent for a guy to be well groomed that shows that hes clean
I am a guy and I have been going to a salon all my life. You get a much better cut if you are willing to pay a little more than you would at your average barber shop. Women might even think you are brave or sensitive for being one of the only men in the salon.
hey, its not gay. its a matter of whether you want some idiot who could skrew up your hair, or a highly trained professional. the longer you cut hair, the more you charge, so you get what you pay for.
Nothing wrong with guys going to salons at all. In fact, in the salon I go to, there are guys and it's a very normal thing. We don't stare at them like an alien or anything.

If you are confident with who you are, then it really shouldn't matter if you go to a salon :) Besides, you really can get better haircuts if you go to a salon than an ordinary barber.
My boyfriend goes to a stylist at a salon. I recommended he go there of course instead of Great Clips or something.
I'm a hairstylist. Some do, some don't. Some still go to the barber shop and some go to Supercuts. Although, I would highly recommend going to a reputable salon because my client's horror stories always start out with, ';Once I went to Supercuts and...'; They also seem to complain that when they go to the barber shop that they get ';scalped'; and end up with hair way shorter than they wanted. If you go to a hair salon, the person cutting your hair is more than likely to have had more training to listen to what you really want, they are more likely to take more time with you and most important, we keep up our training and have a good idea of the latest looks and techniques. May I suggest looking into an ';Aveda'; salon? You can find one by going to their website, www.aveda.com and then you can find a location near you. You're likely to get the best service and haircut ever at an Aveda salon because we all have the same, very high standards.

Is it ok to go to the tanning salon when I am slightly sunburned from the salon?

I know how tempting it can be when you are dying for a summer tan, but you can't tan a burn, so you really just have to wait it out. Like everyone else has said, tanning is really bad for the skin, but I understand the urge to get bronzed and would be hypocritical to say I haven't done my fair share of tanning. In the meantime, I have found that Loreal Sublime Glow lotion works wonders... it is really subtle so if you miss a few places, you can't even tell because it builds so gradually. Give it a try!Is it ok to go to the tanning salon when I am slightly sunburned from the salon?
in my opinion you should be happy with who you are .

and for your question' s answer:

there might be a slight chance that you can get skin cancer

    BECAREFUL

pale skin instead of having skin cancer????

think it okIs it ok to go to the tanning salon when I am slightly sunburned from the salon?
You cannot tan a burn. It's just not a possibility. You should get a spray tan instead of using a tanning bed. Those are soooo bad for your skin.

the Normal, IL area? Can be Bloomington. I just want some layers. Thanks for your advice:)Anyone know of good hair salons in...?
erm... derz one in leicester called george..itz sick.Anyone know of good hair salons in...?
I heard Coloriffic is good but I have not tried. Fox and Hound is too. If you want to try a new place, there is the cosmetology school on Raab. I always cut my own hair but not layered. The way I look at it is, if it doesn't turn out good, it will grow back.

picking best answer todayy if i get a good oneHow much are highlights? [listed salons]
Well we don't exactly know what state or city you're in so it's hard to list salons because they might not have that salon where you live.

Do reasearch on www.yelp.com and type in ';hair salons'; and it will list all the salons around you're neighborhood along with reviews and whether the salon is expensive or not. It also mentions the salon's phone # so you can call and ask them precisely how much would highlights would cost. How much are highlights? [listed salons]
well i dont know where you live but i know where i go it's 55 dollars..

Is is really worth the money to go to a salon to dye one's hair?

Or can you get the exact same results by just doing it yourself with store brought hair dye? IE clairol, l'oreal, etc.

Also which store brought hair dye brand is the best? I want to dye my hair like a rich dark brown. Is is really worth the money to go to a salon to dye one's hair?
I have done both there are pros and cons to either side, first, yes I dyed my hair PLENTY of time by myself, and it turned out great!!! But here's the problem one you're looking for a specific color result, and well the boxes give you a PRETTY good idea of what it MIGHT look like, (and sometimes they will even have a side picture that shows your shade and what the specific color is supposed to do to your hair... it's not always accurate). Some people's hair (like mine) tend to ';grab reds, which means even if I don't use a dye that looks red, if it has even a HINT of it my hair takes it, exaggerates it, and when it's started to fade out the red is all that's left (and without BLEACHING it, I cannot get rid of the red that lingers). I liked using a salon to do it because those girls do that EVERY day, they have a pretty god idea, with what shade of hair you have, and what results you want, what shade they need to use. Also if you are interested in depth (highlights/lowlights) they are more skilled at doing stuff like that, but if you're interested in just one ';flat'; color, there's nothing wrong with doing it yourself, as long as you're not the type of person to FREAK if it's not right (I mean not even close to right). Again I will say I did it myself for YEARS, but once I found a color I liked on me I STUCK with it like glue! I use (regardless of the color... because I have ';played'; with different colors on me) L'Oreal, preferrence I think... I use it because I like the way it makes my hair feel after I've colored it (not all dried out and damaged) it's been more than 3 year since I last dyed my hair (my husband said you know honey I don't know what your natural hair color is, and since I had been dying it since I was 13 I said, you know I don't remember myself!!! the only way to find out was to grow it out... my husband thought he married a redhead... guess what I'm BLOND). Anyway, if your nervous about doing it yourself ask a friend who has done it before to go with you, and maybe even supervise (if not DO the coloring for you), if you are truly nervous about it go to a salon, and have them do it for you (like I said this is a better choice if you are considering doing highlights, or something like that, I've TRIED doing those on myself and well it didn't turn out as well as I would have liked, the good thing was my hair doesn't dye well, which means I have to go for MAX time to get it to set in, and I didn't do my highlights at the max time so you could barely see them). Again there are pros and cons to both (the cons about going to a salon is the price, but I've always LOVED someone else washing my hair anyway, so I'll pay the price), just remember this, if you TRULY hate your hair after you've dyed it you can't take the box back to the store and expect your money back, but you as sure as hell can say you won't pay the salon if they botch it up!!!Is is really worth the money to go to a salon to dye one's hair?
Hello. First of all what is your natural color? You want to stay within 2-3 levels of your natural if you want to color at home. In a salon you are paying for skill. The stylist is trained so that there is less of a chance for error. You'll also get insight into the proper hair shaping and styling tips. At home its you and a box. If your hair is long forget it. Sectioning long hair yourself is a pain in the booty! Also, remember, longer hair requires more product! Its very messy, make sure you have TONS of towels, and a few wet wash clothes just in case the product drips. As far as nice rich color Garnier makes a good product. Good luck!
if you want nice color that lasts for more than a month without fading that's not brassy and won't fry your hair, go to the salon. Trust me it's cheaper in the long run!!!
If your dying your hair with all over color I definitely think you can do it just as well at home. Though if you want highlights or anything special I would invest the money in a hair stylist. They have the invaluable neccessity of experience. I do my mom's hair and we always buy L'oreal. I can't remember which one it is though. i know it isn't the least exspensive one. sorry, i can't remember. it does work well though
It is worth it, b/c if you aren't careful you could really have a mess on your hands,, and your hair could come out looking terrible.
l'oreal is the best hair dye brand
yes it is cuz if u dnt u mite f'up ur own hair
A good hair salon IF THEY'RE GOOD

They have access to more expensive and better products and they know how to use them.
Being a stylist I would say go to one. The products professionals use are far better and can sometimes make your hair come out in better condition than before you colored it. You need to get a consultation and go over the shade you want. She should look at your skin tone and eye color for that perfect shade. If she doesn't then go somewhere else and ask before if they charge for the consult. Some do and some don't. I don't.
i have tried both ways When i go to the salon i get the color i want... when done myself i get the color i dont want and never turns out like the one on the box worth paying the extra money i think unless your doing it the same color
Sometimes you can get salon results at home, but just in case you don't, it's always better to put your hair in the hands of a professional versus doing it yourself since you're dealing with chemicals. Professionals will know what to do if you don't achieve the hair color you're looking for or if you have a bad reaction to the hair product. The same can happen at home, but you would have to call some expertise 1-800 number on the back of the bus to get the information you need...and who knows how long that could take! Your best bet is to trust a professional.
Usr L'oreal the conditioner is excellent, and home dying results are great and any residue washes off, including from towels good luck and save money
Since you asked not any of the supermarket branded hair dyes will give you the best results. Though some of the other products you mentioned produce excellent results.

Though if in doubt.and you can afford it .. go to a good hairdresser for advice.
It is really and always worthy for the salon's owner dear.
If you go to an expensive salon then obviously it is expensive but then the colour lasts longer, if you go to a cheaper salon then it tends to last about a month
to me it is worth it
if you do it at home you run the risk of dying your hair orange - it can be done but do a test dye and call the number on the package for help
i thought that too. i tried to dye my hair a lighter shade of blonde as it was going abit dull with age and it came out ginger. it was never the same!

i now go regularly to the salon to have foils on and its so much more worth doing it that way.
if you have money to dye for
yes especially if you want it to look 'natural'. some home kits will give you a blanket colour and can actually look like a wig. plus a salon will gradually add the colour over time, so it will let you and your hair get used to it.
First timers may get lucky. Best to consul pro.
Definetly worth it. I also find it like a pamper day when I spend 3 hours in the hairdressers having my hair done. Plus colour lasts longer and you know it wont go wrong in any way!
Well, it depends on your hair type (some people's hair grabs color more than others), what color your hair is and what color you are going for. I have had hair-dye nightmares in the past because my hair has a lot of red undertones and I selected the wrong colors and came out with quite unfortunate results. If the hair color is close to your natural hair color (at least within 1-2 shades) you should be okay. But if you are going for a drastic change, definitely go to the hairdresser! I ended up having to go AFTER I tried the cheaper way of doing it! Good luck!!!!
Not really, you can do the job yourself at fraction of the cost.
